Content:
The 4th edition of the Zeppelin and Airmail Special is divided into three volumes for the first time. The reason for that is the comprehensive revision and expansion of the catalogue in order to cover all German airmail issues up to 1945. In this Volume 1, the German Zeppelin mail was newly edited, while the next volumes will feature airmail and catapult mail.
Description: Besides the previous editing of the Zeppelin Pioneers, LZ 126, 127, 129 and 130, the airship models Dr. Wölfert, Parseval, Gross-Basenach, Siemens-Schuckert and Schütte-Lanz have been systematically recorded and catalogued for the first time. A new flight schedule has been compiled for each civilian airship. The appraisals were also adjusted where necessary.
This edition features numerous new discoveries that have been recorded for the first time. Only the information that was actually available to the editors has been included in this catalogue. We were able to record several new discoveries among the pioneers. Regarding army and naval airships, numerous new mail drops have been catalogued, including those of airships for which no mail drops had been recorded until now.
The following revisions are also worth highlighting: The mail drops from LZ 126 and LZ 127 have been specified insofar as they had previously been presented in a general manner. The same applies to their appraisals. In regard to LZ 127, a large number of new “Zuleitungen” have been catalogued for the first time, particularly those concerning the later years of operation, 1934 to 1937.
