Description

Countries/Regions: Slovakia, Czech Republic, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Western Hungary

MICHEL Description: The improvements made by our editorial team can be found throughout the whole volume. We are pleased to report some interesting discoveries regarding issues from the Czech Republic, where a type variation of the Komenský stamp, MiNo. 283, is circulating without a nominal value. Apparently the geese on MiNo. 1006 have enjoyed a bit too much wine, so that we have now been able to include them in our catalogue as an upside-down reverse-print pair. We have included information on the current postage prices of Slovakian and Czech issues and expanded our list of personalized decorative fields of Hungarian stamps. Regarding Czechoslovakia, we have supplemented biographical data.

The reviewing and updating of price quotations was another focal point. In the collection area of Slovakia there have been many small price increases for so-called mass-produced issues, while first-day covers have enjoyed more significant increases in value. The demand for perforation variations of stamps issued by the Slovak State (1939-1945) seems to continue, as various price increases show. Many issue s from the Czech Republic – not only interesting motifs but also, more noticeably, stamp booklets – have also seen increases in value. In regards to issues from Czechoslovakia, we have primarily reviewed the price quotations for the years 1945-1960, and concerning Hungarian issues, we have updated the appraisals of tariff-coded stamps.

This edition features all novelties presented in MICHEL Rundschau up to and including No. 2/2026.
