The latest coin created under the America the Beautiful Quarters Program, the 2017 Ellis Island National Monument quarter dollar, sold out in just three days! On August 30, 2017, the 39th coin of this program was officially unveiled at a ceremony which was fittingly held on Ellis Island. Although, the coin went on sale to authorized purchasers two days earlier. All 40,000 pieces were sold by August 31, and unfortunately, no more will be produced. Consider yourself fortunate if you have one in any of your coin cases!

Interest Dropping?

With few exceptions, the amount of 3-inch 5-ounce silver bullion coins, all of which come bearing a quarter dollar denomination, has been decreasing with each issue.

This year, they sold 35,000 for the Effigy Mounds National Monument 5-ounce silver bullion coin, 20,000 each for the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site and the Ozark National Scenic Riverways releases, and 40,000 for the most recent Ellis Island National Monument coin.

The 2017 George Rogers Clark National Historical Park 5-ounce silver bullion coin will go on sale to authorized buyers that day. These authorized purchasers are a part of the same group that is approved to buy American Eagle gold, silver, and platinum bullion coins as well as American Buffalo gold bullion coins from the U.S. Mint.

On February 25, 1779, the British flag would not be raised above Fort Sackville. They surrendered to American Colonel George Rogers Clark - whose army marched through freezing floodwaters to win this day. The capture of this assured the United States claims to the frontier.

The George Rogers Clark National Historical Park is located in Vincennes, Indiana, along the Wabash River. Inside the memorial rotunda is a bronze statue of Clark, standing seven and one-half feet tall. Along the walls, seven murals depict the story of his expedition. The inscription at the base of the statue reads, "If a country is not worth protecting it is not worth claiming."
